JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:
Medical Records Clerk
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Pull charts requested by authorized personnel in a timely manner.
- Maintain control of records using assigned computer systems.
- Refile charts in an accurate and timely manner.
- Pull charts which need medical reports (hospital papers) filed in them.
- Pull "purged" charts as needed
- May act as receptionist for the department: greet patients, answer telephone properly and follow through on calls.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Pull charts
- File charts
- Answer phone
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior clerical experience preferred
- Prior experience in a medical office preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- Accuracy
- Clerical aptitude
- File alphabetically, as well as to distinguish colors and accurately process numbers.
- Dependability
SKILLS:
- Basic computer skills
- Basic clerical skills
- Basic telephone and communications skills
ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow directions
