Main Function:
Griffin Health is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Ambulance Billing/AR Specialist to join our Patient Financial Services team. This position plays a critical role in the revenue cycle by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing and collections for ambulance services in accordance with CMS guidelines and payer-specific requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility; obtain prior authorizations when required.

  • Review patient care reports and documentation to assign accurate billing codes for ambulance services (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).

  • Ensure all required signatures are present and compliant with CMS standards.

  • Submit clean claims to insurance companies and third-party payers.

  • Proactively follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals.

  • Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and assist with account resolution.

  • Collaborate with patients, clients, EMS staff, and facilities to obtain missing or clarifying documentation.

  • Maintain accurate billing and AR documentation in compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.

  • Stay current with evolving coding practices, billing regulations, and payer guidelines.

  • Contribute to revenue cycle optimization through collaboration and continuous process improvement.

  • Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • NAAC (National Academy of Ambulance Compliance) certification preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ambulance billing or medical billing in a healthcare setting.

  • Strong understanding of CMS billing rules and payer reimbursement policies.

  • Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding and related billing software.

  • Experience with Zoll RescueNet Billing or similar ambulance billing platforms preferred.

  • Familiarity with emergency medical services terminology and workflow.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
