Our client in mining is seeking a highly motivated Power BI Automation Specialist on contract basis to automate key reports by replacing manual extraction/transformation routines with scheduled, automated reporting on a BI platform.
Must have experience in Power BI, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) in Azure. Must be willing to be onsite 3 days per week in Allday, Limpopo to work and train the BI team.

- Matric and relevant Power BI certitication or relavant tertiary qualification
- Strong Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query/M, Desktop & Service, scheduled refresh, RLS).
- Solid SQL or KQL (and readiness to work extensively in Azure Data Explorer).
- Proven experience automating scheduled reporting and replacing manual processes.
- Excellent communication, training and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with Azure services (e.g., ADX/ADE, Data Gateway, DevOps/Git).
- Background in operations/mining or heavy industry analytics.
- Change management exposure (adoption, documentation, training plans).
Responsibilities
- Role objective : Replace manual extraction/transformation routines with scheduled, automated reporting on a dynamic BI platform.
- Environment: Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) in Azure; Power BI (Desktop & Service).
- Build scalable Power BI datasets and reports; establish scheduled refresh and dataflows/pipelines
- Prepare and optimize data using Kusto Query Language (KQL) (strong SQL background acceptable with willingness to learn KQL)
- Refactor existing manual processes into robust, reusable transformations (Power Query/M preferred)
- Identify “manual”/off-system data sources and assist in defining requirements to capture these in a proper system of record
- Coach and transfer skills to the Venetia BI team; produce clear documentation and handover materials
- Collaborate with Operations, IT and stakeholders to validate outputs and embed new ways of working
