About the role

This is a six-month contract role focused on building and embedding test automation capability across Fingermark’s Supersonic application. The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, with responsibility for designing and implementing a scalable test automation framework, delivering UI test automation across all main Supersonic user flows, and integrating automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline to support gated deployments. Where time allows, the role may also extend into API test automation.

You’ll work closely with software architects, tech leads, and developers to design testable systems and embed automated testing across the development lifecycle. You’ll also contribute directly to automation design and implementation, troubleshoot complex automation challenges, and drive improvements in testing tools, frameworks, and processes to support consistent, high-quality software delivery. Strong collaboration across engineering teams is essential to resolving defects efficiently and supporting reliable releases.

The role can be based in Hawke’s Bay or remote within New Zealand. Work hours align with NZ business hours.

About you

You’re a senior QA or test automation engineer with hands-on experience delivering automated testing solutions in modern software environments. You bring a strong understanding of testing principles and enjoy working closely with engineering teams to embed quality into delivery processes.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience in software testing, including at least 2 years focused on test automation
• Strong understanding of testing principles, methodologies, and best practices
• Hands-on experience with modern test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or similar
• Exposure to web application testing, with API test automation experience beneficial
• Strong experience integrating automation frameworks into CI/CD pipelines within Agile or DevOps environments
• Proven experience delivering automated test solutions that improve testing efficiency and coverage
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• A collaborative approach and interest in continuous learning
